World Cruise day #13 sea day--3 days till Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands--January 17
It was the first day in a while that we did not rewind our clocks an hour. I awoke minutes before my 7:30 alarm went off. Had coffee with a view then eggs (3rd time eggs).
I read more about our upcoming ports and narrowed my choices to 3-4 excursions for each. However, it is likely I will visit some on my own, hire a local guide port side, and/or join a private tour group. I am open to all the options.
At 10, I attended a lecture on Tahiti and was reminded of how long it’s been on my bucket list. I look forward to exploring the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and more in “France in the sub tropics.”
Milt's lecture on the first ocean liners was really interesting but his opening joke was a bust.
Sunday brunch in the main dining room was delightful. The food was beautiful and bountiful and I sat with a great group: Kelvin, Lydia, Richard, Lori, and John. Lydia, Richard, and Lori are single friends who live in 3 different US cities, yet, travel together often. They will rent a car in most ports, tour together, and mostly look for vineyards and bars. To each his own, as they say.
I got yelled at for not waiting in a long line for several stations of food I had no intention of eating. I skipped ahead and went straight to the hot foods station where there was no line. I completely disavowed the woman who scolded me as I walked back past her. She gets points for saying I am young and should know better. Actually, I should add her to my list of new best friends who call me young. JoAnn, yesterday, thought I was 27!!!!!!!
Cha-cha dance class was fun as always. We rotated partners after each mini-lesson so we danced with old and new friends. It's always a treat to match up with the pros.
Our dinner table finally let down their hair and we laughed a lot.
Instead of watching the solo woman saxophonist, I chose to watch the film, Mr. Holmes. Popcorn flowed freely. I enjoyed the movie but a combo of the slow-moving sections and the darkness put me to sleep once or twice.
I ended the evening with Ballroom dancing.
I miss setting our clocks back.
