After a long 15-hour travel day, I checked into my hotel the Tivoli convention and conference center hotel, that I found at a great rate on hotwire.com. I had a nice stroll into town past Tivoli, Townhall, and up the Strozier. When I began my stroll at 7 PM, it was still light out but by the time I headed back to the hotel after 9 PM, the sun had completely set and the city sparkled at night. I realize this is the first time I've ever been in Copenhagen at night. I stopped and had a delectable Schwarma sandwich at a small family-owned business on the Stroget.
The next morning, I was up bright and early for 7:30 AM breakfast. I headed into town at 9:20 AM and returned to my hotel at 11:30 AM. I checked out right around noon. It was a beautiful sunny day.
I had a water in the lounge then called a taxi that took me directly to the port, ocean K for 250 DKK. Around $35 US.
Words that come to mind when I think of Copenhagen: Bicycles, chic, orderly, homogeneous(Nordic), flowers, health conscious, castles, open-mindedness, busy, and rich in history.
What made me smile September 12 and 13th (the last two days):lovely weather in Copenhagen, nice hotel room I found on Hotwire, they didn't charge me extra for my luggage which weighs 53 pounds, Danish pastry, survived my 15-hour long journey from Miami via London Heathrow to Copenhagen.
What made me smile September 14: Beautiful sunny day for my nice stroll around town before I took a taxi to board the ship.
Even though I went into several stores and tried on lovely things, I bought nothing!!
