Guess what? I made a big decision! I’ve actually canceled my trip to Central Europe for October and November. The idea of spending time in Warsaw, Kraków, Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest during the chilly, possibly rainy fall season just doesn’t feel right to me. Considering their rather somber recent histories, particularly Poland and the Czech Republic, I realized I’m not emotionally ready to delve into topics like communism, World War II, or even a visit to Auschwitz.
I have even studied the history, geography, local maps, currency, sites, learned about folk heroes and more. Those places will remain on my bucket list. Despite planning this trip annually for over a decade and securing the best price ever, my heart’s just not in it. Plus, the idea of constantly changing hotels on a tight schedule didn’t sit well with me.
Instead, I decided to opt for a 12-day Mediterranean cruise aboard the NCL Jade, departing on October 22. What’s even better is that I’ll be continuing the adventure, on the same ship, with the November 3 transatlantic sailing back to the US, totaling 24 incredible days. While I might switch rooms after the first cruise, there’s a chance I could enjoy the same room for both journeys. No packing and unpacking for an entire 24 days! One of the great things about this cruise is that NCL has a laid-back atmosphere without formal nights. As a solo traveler, I’ll have the chance to connect with fellow solo adventurers each evening at either 5 o’clock or 6 o’clock. In all, I will visit 17 ports of call in Greece, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, the Azores and Bermuda and I will enjoy a fun Halloween party on board. can’t wait for sunny destinations, music, games, dancing, feasting, enjoying sunrises and sunsets, and simply enjoying life at sea. Let the countdown begin!😎🌅
