Seattle-September 2021
I am having a wonderful visit in Seattle with my brother Chad and his sweet, smart, lovely wife Christina.
Here is how we have spent some of the last day and a half in Seattle:
—Carceek park for views of Seattle skyline where the needle looks taller than the other buildings.
—Visited Ballard park across the bridge from Queen Anne. Luna, their cool dog came along for the walk.
—Dinner at Ray’s boathouse café, at sunset. Had dinner on the deck with spectacular views.
—20 to 30 AM minute walk with Chad and Luna around the block and in nearby Greenwood Park.
—Carceek Kerry park for lovely views of the Seattle skyline.
—Drove to the Seattle Center and had a wonderful visit at the Chihuly museum and gardens. Took lots of really cool photos with the famous needle.
—Avoided the light rain that was only short-lived.
—Monorail to Pike Place market was under construction so we drove there.
—Drove to Pike Place Market. This is my seventh visit to Seattle and I always come here because I enjoy the sights, the sounds, the smells, and the energy of this vibrant market.
Walked around and enjoyed Puget Sound
—Feasted on delicious Greek food for lunch facing Pike Place market.
—Saw the passageway of walls lined with bubble gum. Some of it actually revealed art. If I had been chewing a piece of gum, I may have contributed.
—3:00 Wonderful underground tour-75 minutes and museum. I learned all about the rich interesting and seedy history of the oldest part of Seattle where the business section functioned on two different street levels.
—Walked through Pioneer Square. Saw all the homeless tent city and homeless performers etc. It was sad and disturbing.
—Walked near Smith Tower. (I’ve been inside that cool building before.)
—Drove through the international district. Saw Hing Hay park.
—Drove through Fremont. Saw the Fremont troll—It lives under the Aurora bridge and is crushing a real Volkswagen bug.
—Saw Linen statue.
—Drove through Capitol Hill
and Queen Anne.
—Strolled through Gas Works Park. This was the site of Chad and Christina’s wedding. Saw all the geese and their geese poop.
—Christina took Luna for a walk while
Chad and I had a nice talk. Christina came back and we had a more good conversation.
—I gave them their gift, One of my favorite books, Material World, and we looked through it together to see the photographs of typical families from 30 different countries around the world and their day-to-day lives and with all of their life possessions outside their homes.
—Enjoyed Indian takeout. Wonderful food.
—Watched the film about Anthony Bourdain‘s life till 1:30. It was mesmerizing, moving, and disturbing.
I look forward to another full day of enjoying Chad and Christina‘s hospitality and more exploration of Seattle.‼️😎
